Early Childhood Education Center

Play-Based Learning for 18 months to Pre-K

About Us

Ohav Shalom’s Early Childhood Center incorporates play–based learning, Jewish education and enrichment activities for children from 18 months to pre-kindergarten. Children of all faiths enjoy attending the Early Childhood Center’s warm, nurturing educational experience.

Our class sizes are small so that our teachers can devote the time and attention children require to grow and thrive. We place a strong emphasis on the process of your child’s development. Our teachers provide positive reinforcement to help each child reach their potential for intellectual, physical, social, spiritual and emotional growth.

Ohav Shalom’s Early Childhood Center has two integrated classrooms providing special education opportunities for children with special needs. For many years the center has collaborated with Capital District Beginnings to provide quality education opportunities in small size classroom settings for all children.

From 1:15 -2:00 PM we offer enrichment classes for our three and four year olds. There are variety of enrichment classes every afternoon including Tae Kwon Do, Amazing Athletes, Kindergarten prep, Drama, Cooking, and many other classes. We also offer Sign Language for 2-4 year olds that are interested in the morning from 9-9:30. This year we will start a science and nature program as well.

All children can sign up for enrichment classes during the year, even those who are not enrolled at Ohav Shalom’s Early Childhood Center.

Tae Kwon Do:

Taught by long time teacher Elena Grogin, a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, this program helps children develop physically while also instilling discipline.

Amazing Athletes:

The enrichment program is taught by instructors form the Amazing Athletes program. Children learn teamwork, sportsmanship, and goal setting in this weekly program. Movement is crucial to development of young minds and Amazing Athletes is a wonderful program designed to help children learn self confidence.

In this creative cooking class children learn quick nutritious recipes and basic cooking and math skills. Children get to eat the fruit of their labor.

Summer Camp

For eight weeks every summer, Ohav Shalom’s Early Childhood Center offers the perfect Summer Camp for children ages 18 months through Kindergarten. Ohav Shalom’s Summer Camp feels like a large family, which makes it really special. Our goal is to give every child a happy, safe summer camp experience.
