2. When the month of Av enters, we decrease our joy, observance of Tisha B'Av
You are invited to join us for the observance of Tisha B'Av, the ninth day of the Hebrew month of Av.  During this day of mourning, fasting and reflection, we remember the two holy temples of Jerusalem that were destroyed on this date.  We also commemorate other tragedies that have befallen our people.
SATURDAY NIGHT, AUGUST 9 AT
8:48 PM: Evening service to end Shabbat and begin the holiday.  We will read Eicha (The biblical book of Lamentations).  Non leather shoes are worn, and we worship in a somber atmosphere.  You are welcome to bring flashlights with you for the service which is held in dimmed light.
THERE WILL BE A FULL SHABBAT THIRD MEAL (SEUDAH SHLEESHEET) FOR THOSE ATTENDING THE AFTERNOON SERVICE WHICH BEGINS THAT DAY AT
7:00 PM.  THIS WILL ALLOW US TO PREPARE PROPERLY FOR THE TISHA B'AV FAST.

SUNDAY MORNING, AUGUST 10 AT
8:30 AM (PLEASE NOTE THE TIME CHANGE.)  Morning service with the reading of Kinot (traditional songs of sadness for Tisha B'Av).  Tefillin and Tallit are not worn this morning.  (Continue to wear non leather shoes and to fast through the rest of the day.)

SUNDAY AFTERNOON, AUGUST 10 AT
7:30 PM: Afternoon service, Torah study, and ending of the Tisha b'Av fast.  Tefillin and Tallit are worn in the afternoon.
